Last night our fearless leader President Donald Trump gave his second State Of The Union address in front of all branches of the U.S. government and he showed us greatness and exactly how a leader should lead. The ninety minute State Of The Union address had a theme of “choosing greatness” and called forth some of the greatest speeches other U.S. presidents have given in the past.
President Trump opened up his second State Of The Union address with a call to bipartisan unity claiming his agenda was not Republican or Democratic, but instead an American agenda. President Trump show us he knows how to lead our great country, and that we need to follow his lead. He also appealed to Congress and asked them to move forward on the core issues of immigration, drug pricing, the Opioid war, trade, and infrastructure.
Trump surely did not shy away from his main promise of building a wall. He highlighted El Paso, Texas, where crime dropped some 34% after they put a big beautiful wall up. President Donald Trump is protecting us from the hordes of Mexicans coming up from South America, including members of MS13 and other violent gangs looking to import their brand of crime and violence to the United States.
Congress has ten days to act before another Democratic lead shutdown will happen, and Trump told Congress he has ten days to hand him a bill that will fully fund his wall. If not, he threatened to declare a national emergency in order to get funding for the wall that is desperately needed to protect Americans as they sleep in their homes. During the State Of The Union address, Trump said “Simply put, walls work and walls save lives. So let’s work together, compromise, and reach a deal that will truly make America safe.”
Trump told Congress they had 10 days to deliver him a bill that funded his proposed wall, setting the stage for declaring a national emergency if they do not deliver. “Tonight, I am asking you to defend our very dangerous southern border out of love and devotion to our fellow citizens and to our country,” he declared, adding, “Simply put, walls work and walls save lives. So let’s work together, compromise, and reach a deal that will truly make America safe.”
During the speech our leader told us he continues to work on a peace plan with North Korea, and that he plans on meeting Kim Jong Un in Vietnam at the end of the month. In other foreign policy matters, Trump also called out Iran for it’s ongoing nuclear program and supported the people of Venezuela by saying “We stand with the Venezuelan people in their noble quest for freedom.”
Trump also mentioned Afghanistan and Syria, and then said the what might be the most historic words ever… “As a candidate for president, I pledged a new approach. Great nations do not fight endless wars.” Trump has promised us to end the two wars started by Democrats.
